Homes... and Hearts
Most of us take for granted the heat that
keeps our homes warm all winter long.
But to thousands of low-income Georgia
residents, many of whom are elderly an
frail, heat is an unaffordable luxury.
What is H.E.A.T.?
The Heating Energy Assistance Team (H.E.A.T.)
is a nonprofit organization that helps
needy households meet the cost of home
heating. Established in 1983, it is
the oldest statewide fuel fund in Georgia.
H>E>A>T> is funded by contributions from
energy providers, natural gas consumers
and various groups and organizations.
The funds are distributed through the
Georgia Department of Human Resources to
qualifying residents.
