One of the most successful teams in baseball today, the Braves were established in 1876 as the Boston Braves and came to Atlanta from Milwaukee in 1966. The Braves play 8l home games during the regular season, which runs April - September. The Braves play at Turner Field, a stadium built for the 1996 Summer Olympic games.

Part of the NFC Western Division, the franchise was awarded to the city in June 1965, with the first regular season game in September 1966. The team plays at the Georgia Dome, August - December. The Falcons won the NFC championship in 1998.
